After a 13-5 win over Brown earlier in the afternoon, the Huskies would next play Mississippi State, in a rematch of a game that ended in a 6-3 loss for the Huskies on Friday. Starting out, it looked like a similar result may play out in the second game, with Mississippi State taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning and the Huskies’ bats stymied by the Bulldogs’ pitcher Raelin Chaffin’s ability to change speeds. That all changed in the 4th inning, when Alycia Flores hit a grand slam to put the Huskies up 4-3. A double by Ava Carroll stretched the lead to 5-3, giving the Huskies a bit more of a cushion.
