UW notes, stats: Chris Petersen optimistic Jake Browning will return against Arizona next week

The Huskies knew before Saturday that they would be without true freshman quarterback Jake Browning against No. 10 Stanford. They’re optimistic he will be back against for UW’s home game against Arizona on Halloween night.

Asked after Saturday’s 31-14 loss to Stanford if there was hope that Browning would be back next week, Petersen said, “Oh, yeah. There’s a big hope.”

Redshirt freshman K.J. Carta-Samuels made his first start in place of Browning, finishing 9 of 21 passing for 118 yards. He also ran for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
