Washington wasted little time in showing No. 11 Alabama that the Huskies deserve their No. 1 ranking.
In their first home game of the season, the 19-0 Huskies scored three runs in the first inning and four more in the second at Husky Softball Stadium on the way to an 8-0 victory in five innings.
The Husky Classic continues Saturday for UW with a rematch with Alabama at 5 p.m. and then facing Brigham Young at 7:15 p.m.
Friday, Sis Bates went 3 for 4 with three RBI and three runs scored for UW.
Gabbie Plain (6-0) was the winning pitcher.
