Stanford’s early command too much for Huskies to overcome in 3-1 men’s soccer defeat

STANFORD, Calif. — An early deficit was too much for the Washington men’s soccer team to overcome as the Huskies dropped a 3-1 decision to host Stanford in Pac-12 action Sunday.

The Cardinal (8-2-4, 5-1-1 Pac-12) scored quickly in the third minute and again in the 26th minute for a 2-0 lead.

The Huskies (8-7, 3-4) jumped all over the Cardinal to start the second half, outshooting Stanford 11-1 through the first 25 minutes of the period. UW closed the gap to 2-1 when Scott Menzies scored off a free kick. Stanford, though, scored five minutes later to regain total control.
