Life After Penix: Washington football’s future at quarterback

As Michael Penix Jr. prepares to depart for the NFL following the 2023 season, the Washington football program must now focus on building its future without him.

The Huskies currently have only two scholarship quarterbacks on their roster; Dylan Morris and Austin Mack.

Morris is a redshirt junior who started 15 total games between 2021 and 2022, including the abysmal 4-8 season under Jimmy Lake. However, with over a year of development under Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb, he has a big chance to take over the reins after Penix’s departure.
