Huskies’ Jake Browning out with shoulder injury vs. No. 10 Stanford; K.J. Carta-Samuels set for first start

With freshman quarterback Jake Browning out, the Huskies will start redshirt freshman K.J. Carta-Samuels against No. 10 Stanford on Saturday night.

STANFORD, Calif. — Jake Browning is out. K.J. Carta-Samuels is in.

The Huskies are warming up to play No. 10 Stanford on Saturday night with a new quarterback after Browning, their prized freshman, injured his right throwing shoulder late in the Huskies’ loss to Oregon last week.

Carta-Samuels, a redshirt freshman from nearby Saratoga, Calif., will make his first career start in Browning’s place. UW coaches were careful not to tip their hand this week on the status of Browning’s shoulder.
