SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Fumi Franklin, wife of Penn State coach James Franklin, is a devoted Washington State fan. As a student in Pullman in the late 1990s, she slept outside Martin Stadium on game days so she could be one of the first inside.
“So when we found out we were playing Washington in this game, she made it very clear to me: ‘Win this game or me and the kids are gone,” Franklin joked this week in the buildup to Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl between Washington and Penn State.
And yet, for as much as his wife would love to hate Chris Petersen, Franklin said that’s been impossible.
