Riggo’s Rag Podcast: Jay Gruden fired by Redskins

The Jay Gruden era is officially over after five-plus seasons. The Redskins parted ways with their head coach early on Monday morning after an 0-5 start to the season. Gruden was widely expected to be skating on thin ice, and he ended up getting the ax before the midpoint of the season even arrived.

It was inevitably going to happen. But even still, there is a lot to examine in the wake of this major development.

With Gruden gone, the Redskins are operating with Bill Callahan as their interim coach. Kevin O’Connell is going to become their primary play-caller moving forward, and he will get serious consideration for the future head coaching job if he does well.
