I’ve noticed a lot of confusion about salary cap in discussions of Kirk Cousins and other free agent signings lately, so I thought I’d trot it out again.
This article is designed to explain the basics of how salary cap is calculated.
The article is a bit dated. There are contract examples in this article that show Pierre Garcon playing for the Redskins and Jay Cutler playing for the Bears. I think that the examples are still recent enough that the article can be posted and readable.
