Update:
John Keim is hearing that the Redskins are still trying to trade TE Derek Carrier ahead of today’s deadline to cut rosters down to 53 players.
John Keim of ESPN, citing multiple sources, reports that the Redskins have talked to NFL teams about possibly trading TE Derek Carrier.
Keim points out that while Carrier has had a strong training camp up to this point, the Redskins have a surplus at tight end with Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, Niles Paul and Jeremy Sprinkle on their current roster and are likely to keep just four at the position.
