The depth at safety was razor thin for the Washington Redskins last season. They’d signed Dashon Goldson as the starting free safety and Duke Ihenacho won the strong safety spot in training camp.
But while Goldson went on to start every game, Ihencaho was lost to a wrist injury in week one and former cornerback DeAngelo Hall finished the season there having had no time to properly learn the position.
In 2016 Goldson has been released and Hall is the favorite to replace him at free safety. Another converted cornerback Will Blackmon adds veteran experience behind him and second year man Deshazor Everett is the Junior member of the free safety group.
