The Washington Redskins selected Austin Reiter with the 222nd pick in the seventh round of NFL Draft 2015. The Redskins had little to no depth behind starting center Kory Lichtensteiger, so the pick of Austin Reiter does fill a need.
Lichtensteiger moved to center in 2014 from left guard and had played well in his first season at the position. However, the Redskins didn’t have a true backup for Lichtensteiger, instead moving right guard Chris Chester to center when Lichetensteiger was unable to play.
Reiter starter 36 games in college at UCF, so he has a lot of experience.
