Redskins Cut TE Anthony McCoy and Sign Je'Ron Hamm to the Active Roster

McCoy has been inactive and was replaced in the lineup by Tom Compton the past few weeks.

Anthony McCoy was signed by the Redskins less than a week before the Week 1 opener against the Miami Dolphins, a day after signing Je'Ron Hamm to the team's practice squad. McCoy started his career in Seattle in 2010, but missed the past two seasons due to Achilles tears.

Redskins GM Scot McCloughan was familiar with McCoy from his time in Seattle, and the Redskins were desperate for help at the TE position with Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen both being lost for the season, the newly acquired Derek Carrier still familiarizing himself with the team, and the constant health questions with the talented starter Jordan Reed.
