Jonathan Allen absence showed Redskins they need more DL help

The Washington Redskins missed Jonathan Allen and want to make sure that doesn't happen again -- just in case he misses time again. That's why they've looked hard at defensive linemen in this draft, with a strong possibility of taking one in the first few rounds. And, quite possibly, with the 13th overall pick.

The numbers without Allen speak to his impact. There were other issues as other players who could have helped against the run, such as linebacker Mason Foster, were also hurt. But Allen's loss mattered quite a bit.

“When we lost Jonathan, things really seemed to kind of change, and that’s unfortunate because we do feel like we have a lot of depth in the room already,” Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan said in a conference call earlier this week.
