RICHMOND — Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that he was “100 percent confident” running back Chris Thompson will be ready for Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Thompson is working his way back from a broken leg, which he suffered in November of last season. The running back participated in 11-on-11 drills Tuesday for the first time since his injury and looked crisp.
Thompson, who estimated he received about a dozen reps, told reporters after practice that he doesn’t expect to be 100 percent until November.
But Gruden said Thompson should be ready to play when the season starts, barring a setback.
