Chase Young and the Washington Commanders always looked likely to go their separate ways at some stage. It's taken a while, but the veteran defensive end is finally starting to become the player those in power envisaged before the 2020 NFL Draft.
Young had lofty expectations to meet. He was tabbed as a generational prospect coming out of Ohio State en route to becoming the No. 2 pick. Ron Rivera spurned the chance to draft Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert in favor of the edge rusher. This was one of many regrettable choices, even though it was extremely valid at the time.
