Doug Williams joins commission investigating Maryland football culture

Washington Redskins senior vice president of player personnel and former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Doug Williams has been named to the commission investigating the University of Maryland’s football team culture, which has now expanded to eight members from the previously announced four.

Bonnie Bernstein, a sports journalist and Maryland alumna, and former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich were added to the commission, as well as former U.S. Rep. C. Thomas McMillen and sports medicine professor Frederick M. Azar.

University President Wallace D. Loh said in an Aug. 14 press conference that this investigation — which is separate from the investigation into the death of Jordan McNair and apparently a direct response to an ESPN investigative report — would have four members, including a retired college football coach unnamed at the time.
