Dashaun Phillips signed to Redskins practice squad, Carlos Fields cut

The Washington Redskins announced that cornerback Dashaun Phillips has been signed to the practice squad. Linebacker Carlos Fields has been released in his place.

Phillips was waived off of the Redskins’ roster to make room for tight end Derek Carrier, who was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Nov. 12.

Phillips started the season as Washington’s nickel cornerback, recording four individual tackles in three games, but a Week 3 hamstring injury cost Phillips his role to rookie Kendall Fuller. Upon his return from injury, Phillips was a healthy scratch on the inactive list for the Redskins’ games against the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.
