The Washington Commanders couldn't believe their luck when offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. fell to No. 29 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. But according to one team reporter, the rookie edge protector is finding life difficult over the initial exchanges of training camp.
Conerly was a hotly-coveted prospect from the Commanders' perspective. Adam Peters thought he would go a lot higher, and the general manager didn't hesitate to pull the trigger when he was there for the taking.
Washington is taking things slowly with Conerly. They are not handing him anything, and there is some technical refinement needed during his transition from the blindside over to right tackle.
