One of the biggest complaints many Washington Redskins fans have had since the team went to the 3-4 defense in 2010 is that they’ve never really had a true nose tackle to anchor the defense.
A big, space eating presence who can clog up the middle of the field and free up the Linebackers to make plays. The Redskins brought in Barry Cofield in 2011 to play nose tackle and even though he was a good player he was always better suited to defensive end.
So once the Redskins released Cofield in the offseason they needed to find an adequate replacement and more of an upgrade at nose tackle and I think they have in Terrance Knighton.
