What’s the secret to drafting an elite quarterback? Or, maybe, more accurately, what’s the special sauce that makes a young quarterback great? Between drafting, grooming, coaching, and good fortune, there’s a wide array of variables that go into shaping the most successful quarterbacks in the league.

In this piece, I’m going to aggregate a range of information that I think might provide some insight into what that “special sauce” (or sauces) look like, in the hopes of shaping Washington’s situation this season and beyond. Some of those variables Adam Peters and his staff can control. Others (e.g., team quality before the player’s arrival), he cannot.
