Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is getting closer and closer to being back into game shape, as evidenced by the next step in his rehabilitation process.

Per Josh Alper of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "coach Jay Gruden said Monday that a return to team drills for Robert Griffin III remains at least a week away, but that he believes the quarterback’s ankle has healed enough for him to begin doing individual drills this week."

Gruden acknowledges that RGIII's progressing in rehabbing his injured ankle, but they are still being cautious when it comes to putting him in full practice situations.

“As far as actually taking practice reps I think that will be at least another week," Gruden said, via CSNWashington.com. "We’ll get him out there, do some individual drills, throw some balls to balls to the wideouts. That will be the first step. Then next week we’ll try to get him maybe in some practice situations and see where he is.”

With the possibility looming of Colt McCoy getting a look as a replacement for the currently turnover-prone Kirk Cousins, the Redskins hope that RGIII's rehab process continues to go according to schedule in order to perhaps solve their QB issues once and for all.
