3 Reasons Why Redskins Fans Should Be Optimistic About 2015

It’s been a quiet offseason for the Washington Redskins so far, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to be optimistic about when the 2015 NFL regular season gets going just over five months from now. Here are three reasons why Redskins fans should be looking forward to the season:

3) Washington didn't overpay for anyone!!

The biggest thing that new GM Scot McCloughan did was make several under-the-radar moves that will improve the Redskins without having to spend a lot of money to bring in a marquee player. In past years, Washington would've chased the biggest prize on the open market, only to realize they overpaid for the limited production they got while neglecting their other needs. Instead, the Redskins decided to improve multiple positions on their roster, which should translate to more wins.

2) Stable QB position

Robert Griffin III is officially listed as the starter with Colt McCoy as his backup, and while head coach Jay Gruden (and most of the fan base) wants Griffin to go, he's giving him every opportunity to show what he can do. If RG3 struggles, McCoy will take over the starting job and Griffin won't get it back. Washington has clearly defined the roles of the quarterbacks, giving the team much more stability than last year's three QB carousel.

1) Improved defense

Washington had one of the league's worst defenses in 2014, but they greatly improved the unit with a number of key offseason signings. The Redskins have brought in DT Terrance Knighton, CB Chris Culliver, and S Dashon Golson, all of whom have proven they can be very productive starters in the NFL. Washington is essentially starting from the ground up on that side of the ball, but they will be vastly improved in 2015.
