The White House on Monday received a letter from U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner that pleads with President Biden to fight for her release from a Russian jail, saying she fears she will never return home.
Excerpts of Ms. Griner’s letter to Mr. Biden, much of which remains private, were released by her representatives and reported by The Associated Press.
“As I sit here in a Russian prison, alone with my thoughts and without the protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments, I’m terrified I might be here forever,” the WNBA star and two-time Olympic gold medalist wrote.
