The Washington Capitals extended qualifying offers to two players.

The Washington Capitals tendered qualifying offers to two restricted free agents before Wednesday’s 5 p.m. deadline. They extended the offers to defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler and forward Shane Gersich.

Center Travis Boyd didn’t receive a qualifying offer and neither did defensemen Kris Bindulis and Connor Hobbs. All three players could become unrestricted free agents.

That doesn’t mean the Caps can’t or won’t sign them before Friday though. Michal Kempny is on long term injured reserve so his salary is buried.
