When the Washington Capitals signed veteran free agent center Derek Roy to a professional tryout agreement, they did so to hopefully improve their center depth. Derek Roy had a reason for signing with the Washington Capitals as well. The veteran center is 32 years old and is entering his 12th NHL season. He has never won a Stanley Cup. He signed with the Washington Capitals to scratch that goal off his bucket list.
