The Noon Number: Striking the Lightning

3.60 - The cumulative goals-per-game rate for the Capitals against the Lightning since the start of the 2015-16 season, the highest of any Tampa opponent over that span. In the 15 regular-season clashes between the two clubs, the Caps have put up 54 goals (fourth-most) - all while keeping Tampa’s potent offense to just 39 goals (2.60 goals-against per game, tied for the third-lowest rate).

And of course the Caps did plenty of recent damage to the Lightning in their most recent playoff clash, outscoring Tampa 23-15 in their seven-game series (with two shutouts for Braden Holtby).
