Before the Caps game against the Wild on Friday, the team brought out alumni Peter Bondra, Calle Johansson, and Olaf Kolzig for the ceremonial puck drop, along with a special guest: Penny, the eagle. The eagle came to celebrate the team wearing their new ‘screagle’ jerseys.
According to WJLA, ‘Penny is a rescue eagle from the American Eagle Foundation, which is a non-profit wildlife conservation group that is dedicated to guarding and protecting the national bird.’
