T.J. Oshie remembers being nervous, “over-hyped” as he put it. The details of his first game with the St. Louis Blues aren’t crystal clear – he figured he played okay – but Oshie can recall how he felt. There’ll be some butterflies in his first Washington Capitals regular-season game, but he expects to be more sentimental than anxious.
“I’ll remember this one for a long time,” Oshie said. “But it’s still another game out there. I think once I get to the rink, it’ll just be back to business as usual.”
The Capitals have endured a slow build to the regular season, first with seven exhibition games and then with nearly a week-long break in between the last preseason game and opening night against the New Jersey Devils.
