Long road leads oldest prospect Dajon Mingo to first NHL development camp

Dajon Mingo smiled and let out a deep breath, because tracing his path to Washington Capitals development camp might take some time. It was Saturday afternoon and he was perched in one corner of the Arlington locker room, still dressed in gear from the prospect scrimmage, still trying to grab every moment of this experience and stash it for the flight home to Michigan. But how in the world did he land here, several years after he almost quit hockey in high school?

How did he leave his home state, travel from Wyoming to Washington to Alaska to Iowa to Ohio, change positions from forward to defense and then become the oldest player in attendance, older even than eight players on the Capitals’ current roster?
