In business-like fashion, Capitals take care of business, throttle Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS — Tuesday was just another average night for the Washington Capitals. They won a road game with little fuss thanks to good goaltending and a good power play.

It was the kind of balanced performance – a 6-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets – that’s now become expected from the team with the NHL’s best record. Nicklas Backstrom scored two goals, Evgeny Kuznetsov had four assists and nine Capitals got on the score sheet.

Before the game, Columbus Coach John Tortorella praised Washington’s depth and said that these Capitals (35-8-3) play more as a team under Coach Barry Trotz.
