I have a confession to make: When I heard the news that Brooks Laich had been traded to Toronto late Sunday night, I wasn’t especially upset — and the fact that I wasn’t upset was what actually bothered me.
I read several beautiful farewells to Laich over the next few days and nodded along in agreement with every mention of his loyalty to the Capitals and what a great guy he was off the ice, and while I certainly wasn’t happy that Laich was gone, I was, at most, bummed.
