Congratulations to Caps center Nicklas Backstrom for his 700th career assist. He got it in the third period against the Bruins when he wrestled the puck out of the corner and Jakub Vrana sniped it home (other than that, the game was awful).
Among Swedish players, Backstrom is in 5th place on the all-time assist list, behind Daniel Alfredsson (713), Mats Sundin (785), Henrik Sedin (830), and Nicklas Lidstrom (878). He’s also the 54th player of all time to his this milestone.
