Capitals tinker with forward lines again

OTTAWA – The Washington Capitals have dominated the NHL this season, the first team to clinch a playoff spot. So with a day off in Ottawa on Monday, the team decided to try a different sport: curling.

“We try to do something team building-wise once a month at least, so we had that on the docket for quite a while,” Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said.

Keeping things fresh and interesting is important for a team that’s had to fight through a dog-days lull. Their record has had a postseason berth all but assured since the all-star break, so manufacturing urgency has been a struggle.
