The Washington Capitals are bringing in at least one reinforcement ahead of the NHL’s 3 p.m. trade deadline Monday — and it’s a familiar face.
The Capitals traded for Seattle Kraken forward Marcus Johansson on Monday morning, according to multiple reports. Johansson was drafted in the first round by the Capitals in 2009, playing seven seasons in D.C. from 2010-2017.
TSN’s Chris Johnston was first to report the deal. It’s unclear as of Monday morning what the Capitals gave up in return. The team has yet to announce the trade.
Johansson is expected to give the team flexibility, as the 31-year-old can play all three forward positions.
