Americans Slip Past Stingrays 3-2 in Overtime in Game 5 of the Kelly Cup Finals

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays (14-11) earned a late game-tying goal in the third period from forward Wayne Simpson, but the Allen Americans (15-8) succeeded 3-2 in overtime of Game 5 of the Kelly Cup Finals at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday night. The Stingrays trail best-of-seven series 3-2.

The Stingrays broke open the scoring 8:17 into the contest as forward Patrick Gaul caught a misplayed puck from Americans netminder Riley Gill (W, 23 saves on 25 shots) and banked it off the back of the leg pad and across the goal line.
