Recap Alex Ovechkin's Latest Hat Tricks

Nine years ago, on January 13, 2006, Alex Ovechkin scored his first career NHL hat trick in a thrilling 3-2 overtime win against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in Anaheim.

Since then, Ovechkin has notched 12 additional hat tricks to make him tied with Peter Bondra for first for the most career hat tricks in the Washington Capitals franchise. Ovechkin is also ranked third with Eric Stall in most career hat tricks (13) for active players (Jaromir Jagr - 15, Marian Gaborik - 14).

Though Ovechkin has scored a number of hat tricks, let's revisit his six latest ones.

8th Career Hat Trick:

May 4, 2009: Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Ovechkin's first playoff career hat trick in game two of the playoffs.

Sidney Crosby also netted a hat trick that night, but Dave Steckel scored one tying goal in the second period to give the Capitals the win.

9th Career Hat Trick:

Feb. 7, 2010: Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Ovechkin's third goal to secure the hat trick was also the game-tying goal.

10th Career Hat Trick:

Jan. 22, 2011: Washington Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Capitals went on to win the game 4-1.

11th Career Hat Trick:

Feb. 23, 2013: Washington Capitals vs. New Jersey Devils

This was Ovechkin's first hat trick in two years and the Capitals defeated the Devils 5-1.

12th Career Hat Trick:

April 6, 2013: Washington Capitals vs. Florida Panthers

Capitals won 4-3.

13th Career Hat Trick:

Dec. 10, 2013 : Washington Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Ovechkin scored four goals on Lightning's goaltender Ben Bishop to give the Capitals a 6-5 victory in a shootout.
