Women’s Soccer: Deacons display defensive effort

Two straight overtime games left the Wake Forest women’s soccer team exhausted, but not defeated this past weekend. The Deacons took on out-of-state rivals Oregon and William & Mary at the N.C. State Tournament and went to double overtime in both matches, coming away with a 1-1 draw against the Tribe and a 1-0 victory over the Ducks.

Sophomores’ Maddie Huster and Sarah Medina both scored their first career goals this weekend, with Medina’s coming off of a give-and-go with midfielder Sarah Teegarden against the Tribe.

“Medina’s goal was a team goal. She initiated it from the back, and two passes later we’re in their box and she’s 1-v-1 with the keeper,” said da Luz.
