The Wake Forest Demon Deacons lost in the Elite 8 in last year’s NCAA Tournament, but they would not be denied from the College Cup for the second consecutive season. The Deacs are going back to the College Cup for the first time since 2009. Despite Wake Forest finishing the game with 18 shots to Virginia Tech’s 5, the game was a defensive struggle down to the wire, but Wake Forest’s Ema Twumasi scored a gorgeous goal in the 80th minute to break a scoreless tie. Just 2 minutes later the freshman gave the Deacs an insurance goal on a nice put pack to seal the game.
