The Wake Forest men’s soccer team has a rich tradition, but on Sunday the program achieved something it hadn’t done since 1989. Wake Forest defeated Clemson 3-1 and in doing so won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship for the first time since 1989. This tournament is exceptionally difficult to win, and proof of that is that Wake Forest won the NCAA Championship in 2007, but was not able to win the ACC Championship that same year.
Ian Harkes started things off for the Deacs in the 24th minute with an excellent ball from the top of the box.
