In The Dark Knight, we see Batman at his most advanced. In the film, he finally establishes himself as an infallible figure by sacrificing his reputation as a hero. In the film, we see the new district attorney as a ray of hope for citizens of Gotham looking for an incorrupt figure to lead the city into a future where corruption will not rule the city as it did in the first film. Throughout the events of the film though, we see Harvey grapple with the criminal influence around him and we find him being manipulated by the notorious Joker following the death of his love interest, Rachel, an event that sends him off the deep end.
