Suspense attracts people to horror movies

On Aug. 30, 2015, one of the greatest minds of the horror genre passed away. Wes Craven created masterpieces such as A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), The Hills Have Eyes (1977) and Scream (1996).

All films that have left a lasting legacy amongst audiences of all generations.

For decades, people have engaged in these films, allowing them to step out of their comfort zone and experience emotions that they would not normally experience in their ordinary lives. Now, the phenomenon of the horror film calls into question why people watch scary movies in the first place and why they want to feel terror.
