Head baseball coach Tom Walter has agreed to a 7-year extension to remain the Wake Forest coach through 2024. The school announced the extension, and it comes at a time when Walter was being talked about for the open spot at South Carolina.
The Diamond Deacs made it to the Super Regionals this year, falling to eventual National Champions Florida in a winner-take-all third game. The Deacs outhit Florida 26-12 in the first two games, but managed a split before losing 3-0 in the elimination game.
Wake Forest finished the year with a 43-20 record, its best since 2002.
