Virginia Tech hosted the Iowa Hawkeyes, trying to add to the ACC’s lead over the Big Ten in the ACC/B1G challenge. For the first 20 minutes, the game went back and forth, with neither side really able to establish themselves as the dominant presence. The two teams went into their respective locker rooms knotted at 38 apiece.
But whatever Buzz Williams said at halftime worked. The Hokies came out of halftime with an attitude, and poured it on Iowa. With just eight minutes left in the game, Iowa had put up a measly five points in the second period.
