The Virginia Tech Hokies’ softball season is over. The Hokies entered Sunday’s Tuscaloosa Regional 2-1, with a pair of wins over Belmont and a loss to Alabama. To avoid elimination, the Hokies needed to defeat the Crimson Tide twice. Unfortunately, Tech’s bats got off to a slow start and, despite a late rally, fell short in a 3-2 loss.
It was the second time in two days that Virginia Tech lost by one run to the Crimson Tide. The Hokies finish the season 1-3 to the Tide, with three of the four games decided by one run.
It’s a sad and disappointing end to another terrific season for the Hokies.
