NEW YORK – Virginia Tech Football ranks fourth among Top 25 football programs in academics according to a new report from New America published today by Time. That list is topped by Stanford, with Clemson and Temple the only other programs to finish higher than Tech.
New America – a Washington, D.C. based think tank compiled the rankings by beginning with each school’s football graduation success rate (GSR). The GSR is a NCAA measure that, unlike the federal graduation rate, doesn’t penalize schools for having players who transfer or leave for the pros – as long as those players depart in good academic standing.
