Virginia Tech Out For ACC Crown With Last Season’s Momentum

It was a down season for the Virginia Tech Hokies, who were led by legendary head coach Frank Beamer in his 28th season as head coach. After starting 2-0, including a 14-point win on the road at Ohio State—the eventual National Champions—the Hokies went 5-6 the rest of the way, a stretch that also consisted of disappointing losses to Wake Forest and Boston College.

But the season ended with a two-game winning streak against Virginia and Cincinnati in the Military Bowl, and after Ohio State went on to win the first-ever College Football Playoff, the story shifted to last season being a building block for better things to come.
