Multiple factors played into Virginia Tech's 30-23 loss to Wake Forest at Lane Stadium. Penalties, turnovers, the inability to score touchdowns, and self-inflicted mistakes. Add it all up, and it was a seven-point loss in a game that feels like they gave away.
Following the game, one thing that interim head coach Philip Montgomery was happy with was the effort of the Hokies. Despite the mistakes and everything else, Montgomery was happy with his team's effort against the Demon Deacons.
"Disappointing and frustrating, but I was proud of our guys,'' Montgomery said.
