Virginia Tech Hokies News: Brent Pry firing fallout, Whit Babcock's future, more

On Sunday, the decision was made to fire football coach Brent Pry after a 16-24 stint in Blacksburg and a 45-26 non-conference loss to Old Dominion on Saturday night at Lane Stadium. Now, after four years of Pry, there will be a new head coach come 2026. First-year offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery will assume the head coaching duties the rest of the year.

When the new search begins for Pry's replacement, Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline reported from a source on Sunday that the next coach will be hired by a committee with a chair who has yet to be determined.
