Virginia Tech has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Buzz Williams through the 2022-23 season.
Athletic director Whit Babcock announced the extension Wednesday.
Williams has coached the Hokies for two seasons, and last year produced one of the best turnarounds in Atlantic Coast Conference history. Virginia Tech went from 11-22 overall and 2-16 in league play in Williams' first season to 20-15 overall and 10-8 in the ACC last year.
The Hokies also beat a pair of top 10 teams -- No. 4 Virginia and No. 7 Miami -- and won a program-record six consecutive league games on their way to a spot in the NIT.
